Mandy Ross: writing, teaching and creative projects

  • OH
Oh, it’s been a strange year, finding our way through change and ongoing uncertainty. I've been sitting and stitching with words. OH is a favourite. So many possible human intonations. Punctuation can help. Oh? Possibly...

  2. Writing in hope and uncertainty
  3. Tree Whisperer for Ledbury Poetry Festival
  4. Do more of what makes you happy

I’m a writer and integrative counsellor. If you’re after my one-to-one counselling work, please go to

This website is all about my writing and creative work. I’ve written over 60 children’s books, including picture books, stories, poetry, information and history books, readers and baby books. I write for grown-up audiences, including poetry, plays and life-story work, and co-edited Lifeline, Heartline for Candlestick Press.

And I use writing in all sorts of creative engagement projects, gathering and weaving voices and stories in Birmingham and beyond. See more at Secret City Arts, and Nisa Nashim.

I’ve been the Tree Whisperer, resident poet in the woods for for Ledbury Poetry Festival. More here.

Creative Wellbeing

It is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self – Winnicott

I combine my writing and counselling skills in workshops and courses in creative wellbeing.

If you’re looking for my one-to-one counselling work, please go to

I offer a range of creative workshops, small groups and short courses, often in partnership with organisations including Writing West Midlands, Martineau Gardens, Nisa Nashim, St Martin’s Centre for Health and Healing, and Music Therapy Works.

Taking inspiration from poetry and stories, working indoors or out in the urban environment, participants combine a playful approach to writing and making in a creative response to the real world around us.
